Chaz M. Grooms (born October 9, 1984) is an American businessman and entrepreneur. He is best known as the co-owner of Roosters Roost, a regional chicken restaurant franchise with locations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. As of March 2022, his estimated net worth is approximately US$1.4 million.
Early Life and Education
Grooms was born into a Catholic family in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Gary Grooms, a steelworker, and Paulette Grooms, a nurse. He was raised in the nearby town of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and graduated from Brooke High School in 2004. He later attended Pittsburgh Technical College, where he earned an associate degree in Information Technology.
Personal Challenges and Recovery
In January 2015, Grooms was arrested during a period of personal struggle related to addiction. The case was later dismissed. Following this, he became involved in a recovery group based in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, marking the beginning of his path toward sobriety and entrepreneurship.
Career
Grooms has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. He initially gained experience in the pizza business and became a partner in a successful pizza franchise, Fat Angelo's, in 2019. He later transitioned to the fried chicken sector, co-founding Roosters Roostwith business partners Bob and Debra Cochrane. The brand has since expanded, becoming known for its pressure-fried chicken, broad menu, and family-friendly atmosphere.
In addition to his restaurant ventures, Grooms has a background in technology and web development. He also manages the digital presence and website for Roosters Roost.
Personal Life
Grooms married Alicia Williams in 2020 in a private ceremony. The couple has a daughter, born prematurely in 2018, who has been diagnosed with Bartter syndrome, a rare genetic kidney disorder. Grooms is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
